I heard this story from one of my friends:
"I am forever grateful to the person who successfully insisted that I go on a diet. I was obese and was consistently gaining weight. "Diets aren’t for me," I thought. I tried many of them but didn’t have the willpower. Then someone who barely knew me said to me with total compassion. "Do me a favor. Let me save your life. I’ll speak to you daily and give you encouragement to stick to a healthy diet." This person called me up two and three times a day. When I asked how I could repay this kindness, I was told, "Just be there for someone else like I was there for you."

Yesterday it was decided to try not to horn while driving from Sulthan Bathery to Kalpetta a distance of arond 23 Kms. The whole journey was wonderful. The travel speed had reduced and every scene and the air was enjoyed to the most. By and large its a easy strech of road to try as only a little distance has to be covered within cities. We were doubtful whether it was possible. We understood that not only is it possible but also very enjoyable.

Everyone at our apartment complex gathered and took a pledge .. i was lovely to be together and say these words
PLEDGE:
I TAKE A PLEDGE THAT I WILL, REGARDLESS OF CASTE, REGION OR RELIGION, DEMONSTRATE BROTHERHOOD AND CITIZENSHIP IN MY EVERYDAY LIFE. I PLEDGE THAT I WILL BE A MORALLY RESPONSIBLE CITIZEN SO AS TO BUILD A STRONG NATIONAL CHARACTER WHICH WILL BE THE BIGGEST DETERRENT TO THE ENEMIES OF MY COUNTRY

Recently we visited Ooty along with my brother’s family. At Nilgiris Dairy outlet, we went to buy some products. While paying for the purchases, I observed the sales man Mr Samuel, having problem using his right hand and right leg. On enquiry, I learnt that he had a stroke few months ago and that he is recovering due to therapy. I held both his hands in to mine and wished heart fully that he would recover from the ailment completely very soon. Mr Samuel was in tears and touched with my gesture. I had a nice feeling of having made him happy and I also realized the effect of genuine love and concern towards a fellow being.

On Nov 18 , we (Ashok&Arun)went toMaitri bhavan in Calicut for a visit. This organization is run by V.C.C.RAJA (CALICUT) wherein 10 persons are there. We went to see their living style. We found that they were live very happily, joyfully and they are enjoying life. They always keep smiling like children. They have no complaints about others. They are helping each others. At that time I felt and understood that what really love is.They don't want money or luxury items, they need love and care from others.
We had given them some sweets, and the mothers treated me and Arun also as their own children. We had lunch with them and we spent sometime with mothers.Every one shared their old stories and experiences. They felt that at least now we got 2 children we were also very happy to hear this .
WHAT A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN US AND THEM.

Visited Clara Bhavan, old age home yesterday and enjoyed being with the elderly mothers.
We shared breakfast with them and every inmate enjoyed and spoke to us lovingly.
One inmate Kunjamma came to us and said "please don't mistake me as I did not take upma as it does upset my stomach. I am pained as I did not eat it, when you had brought with so much love". I could see her eyes welled up with tears. It was really touching.
All the inmates were reluctant to see us off and wanted us to spend more time.
We decided to visit them more frequently.

Inspired by the V-Set share and care, we could save electricity at home. Earlier I used to observed that the lights were on in all the rooms even when there were none in the room. I started switching off the lights in the rooms where no one is there. After a few days I found that my parents and others at home too started follwing this by switching off the lights where the rooms are not being used. This resulted in receiving the electricity bill for Rs.209/- whereas the previous bills used to be Rs. 391. My father thought of further saving the electricity power by replacing all the clear bulbs at home with CFL bulbs and are eagerly awaiting to see how much power we have saved.
